Police Arrest four Christian and Hindu Guests Under False Charges in Pastor’s Home

08/16/2020 India (International Christian Concern) – On July 13, two Christian boys, Avinash Kumar and Rambali Ram visited Pastor Ramnivas Kumar in Bihar state, and brought their two new Hindu friends. After the pastor prayed over the boys and told them the gospel, the Hindu friends wanted to know more about Jesus.

During the conversations, suddenly shouting was heard from behind the main door. The police came in and arrested the two Hindu guests under false charges of robbery.

They started beating us with steel rods and wooden sticks.” Pastor Kumar told Morning Star News, “I was also hit and could not control the mob from striking the four guests visiting us.

The assailants flipped the matter telling the police that four persons forced their way into Ramnivas Kumar’s house, and that they had come in time to rescue him from daylight robbery,” Pastor Kumar told Morning Star News. “The police listened to their version but did not pay heed to us.” After, they arrested the two Christian visitors.

A representative of Alliance Defending Freedom India, a legal advocacy group, called the station chief in Bihar, urging them to do justice against the assailants and not charge the innocent Christians. Later, the Christians were released the next morning without charges.

India is ranked 10th on the Open Doors 2019 World Watch List of the countries where it is most challenging to be a Christian. The country was 31st in 2013, but its position has been worse each year since Narendra Modi of the Bharatiya Janata Party came to power in 2014.
