Al-Shabaab Kills 2, Injures 10 in Kenya

12/05/2021 Kenya (International Christian Concern) –Two police officers were killed and ten others injured in Kenya on Saturday when Al-Shabaab terrorists ambushed their vehicle.

“The vehicle was heading to Nairobi from Mandera but on the way, the suspected militants ambushed the track,” said North Eastern Regional Police Commander Rono Bunei. “The attack left two of our officers dead.”

He added: “The driver drove through the deadly shootout and managed to make it through. If he could have stopped most likely we could have witnessed more victims and casualties.”

The attack by the Al-Qaeda affiliated terrorists is the first after months of relative peace in the country.

Because Kenya is a Christian-majority nation, many people would find it hard to believe that Christian persecution exists there. However, Al-Shabaab, a Somali terror group, regularly crosses the border into neighboring Kenya to stage attacks.

Al-Shabaab aims to overthrow the Somali government and establish a caliphate under its strict version of sharia law. Attacks on Kenya have been occurring for nearly a decade because the Kenyan military has supported the central government in Somalia rather than the terror group.

Attacks by Al-Shabaab in Kenya most often involve the killing of Christians in small villages or who are riding on buses. These attacks happen many times a year and have led to the deaths of more than 100 Kenyan Christians over the past five years. The group also targets churches, police stations, shopping centers, communication towers, and Christian aid workers.

Please pray for our brothers and sisters in Kenya, especially those who lost loved ones during this attack. Please also pray for the Lords love to reach the souls of those who persecute the church, and that His light would overcome all of the worlds darkness.
