Christian Family Claims Police in Pakistan Have Failed to Recover Their Abducted Daughter

09/20/2020 Pakistan (International Christian Concern) – According to Asia News, police in Faisalabad, Pakistan have failed recover a teenage Christian girl who was abducted, forcefully converted to Islam, and forcefully married to her abductor in July.

On July 22, Saneha Kinza, age 15, was abducted by a Muslim man named Saeed Amanat in Faisalabad. According to Saneha’s family, Amanat forcefully married Saneha and forcefully converted her to Islam after the abduction.

On August 29, Saneha’s family filed a First Information Report (FIR # 826/20) at the Jhang Bazar Faisalabad Police Station against Amanat. In this FIR, Saneha’s family has called for the police to arrest Amanat and return Saneha to her family.

Unfortunately, authorities in Faisalabad have taken little action on behalf of the Christian family.

According to a 2014 study by The Movement for Solidarity and Peace Pakistan, an estimated 1,000 women and girls from Pakistan’s Hindu and Christian communities are abducted, forcefully married to their captors, and forcibly converted to Islam every year. The issue of religion is also often injected into cases of sexual assault to place victims from religious minority communities at a disadvantage. Playing upon religious biases, perpetrators know they can cover up and justify their crimes by introducing an element of religion.
