12/26/2021 India (International Christian Concern) – According to the Free Press Kashmir, a church in India’s Haryana state was vandalized by unknown individuals. The incident has been reported to police, who are analyzing CCTV footage of the incident.
The incident took place in Ambala this afternoon, the day after local Christians celebrated Christmas.
“Two men jumped the boundary wall at 12:30 p.m. and vandalized a Jesus Christ’s statue at around 1:40 p.m.,” Narseh, Station House Officer of Sadar Police Station, told the media. “They haven’t been identified yet, police teams have been assigned to investigate it. A compliant has been lodged and action will be taken accordingly.”
Across India, attacks on Christians and their places of worship continue to rise in both number and severity. In states where anti-conversion laws have been enacted, including Haryana, radical Hindu nationalists abuse the laws as a legal cover to persecuted minorities.
Last week, India’s Karnataka state became the tenth state in India to pass an anti-conversion law. Many Indian Christians fear more anti-conversion laws will be enacted and that these laws will continue to drive Christian persecution in India to new heights.
