During a “Season of Creation Intergenerational Dialogue” webinar on 3 June, World Council of Churches acting general secretary Rev. Prof. Dr Ioan Sauca gave closing remarks, reflecting on how the earth can be a home for us all.
The Season of Creation is celebrated each year from the 1 September to 4 October, as the Christian family unites for a worldwide celebration of prayer and action to protect our common home.
The theme for the 2021 Season of Creation is “A Home for All? Renewing the Oikos of God.”
The webinar featured three women of different generations discussing together how they understand home, and the way this is changed by different contexts and times.
“The stories and statements from our children and youth call us now to repentance and urgent action for a more just and sustainable planetary home,” said Sauca. “We are called to respond with commitment and faith in God’s love and protection not least for the vulnerable – children, but also creation herself – especially during these uncertain times of pandemic.”
He added: “We understand that our wellbeing is deeply interwoven with creation’s wellbeing. Together let us make the Earth a home for all…without a question mark…without any form of injustice.”
