Petition Launched for American Pastor Detained in India

11/10/2019 India (International Christian Concern) – On October 5, an American pastor traveling to India and Nepal was arrested and detained by Indian authorities after he was accused of violating the country’s Foreign Exchange Management Act. However, the pastor and his family believe he has been targeted and arrested because of his Christian faith.

On October 5, Pastor Bryan Nerren, age 58, was traveling to northeastern India for a Sunday school conference with two other American pastors. When the group arrived at Bagdogra airport, Pastor Nerren was arrested by customs officials who claim he did not declare moneys Pastor Nerren was carrying.

On October 29, International Christian Concern (ICC) highlighted the arrest and detention of Pastor Nerren in a Press Release. Since then, over 87,000 individuals have signed a petition seeking Pastor Nerren’s release from India.

Speaking to Christian Daily, Pastor Nerren’s wife, Rhonda, said, “My husband has done nothing wrong. His only crime is living out his steadfast love for Jesus. He’s my best friend, and I need him home. Please pray for our family.
