ICC Brings Hope to India Through Bibles and Bikes

02/09/2019 Washington D.C. (International Christian Concern) – For many years, ICC has reported on the enduring faith of those willing to proclaim the name of Jesus in India. On almost a daily basis, India’s Christian leaders are willing to endure intense persecution to bring the Gospel to those still unreached.

In 2018, ICC developed a plan to help these courageous Christians. In October, ICC challenged its donors to empower 1,000 church planters across India by equipping each of them with a new bike and 100 Bibles.

With the simple gift of a bike, a Christian evangelist in rural India is able to peddle an average of 12.5 miles a day while sharing the Gospel. This means that they can reach two to three times more villages with the Gospel and raise up believers into church planters. If typical patterns are duplicated, we should see 6,000 new churches planted in the first year after equipping our church planters.

By the end of 2018, ICC’s Bibles and Bikes initiative was already having an impact. Thanks to generous donors, ICC has already been able to equip church planters in six states across India, including Telangana, Chhattisgarh, Uttar Pradesh, Odisha, Andhra Pradesh, and Jharkhand. Throughout 2019, ICC will continue to empower these incredibly brave evangelists to birth thousands of new churches across the country.
