Philippine President Duterte Mocks Holy Trinity, Rants Against Church

01/01/2019 Philippines (International Christian Concern) – Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte once again made comments against Christian doctrines and Catholic Church in a derogatory tone.

On December 29, in a speech in Kidapawan City, Cotabato, he said, “you’re already praying at one God, then you’re going to pray at these cursed saints. There’s only one God. There’s only one God, period. You cannot divide God into 3, that’s silly.”

Duterte also said before attacking the Holy Trinity doctrine that Jesus Christ is “unimpressive” because he had allowed himself to be nailed on the cross. He added, “I’m God and you will crucify me? Mother******. I’d tell them: ‘Lightning, finish all of them. Burn all the non-believers’.”

This wasn’t the first time the country’s leader attacks Church. In the past he has openly criticized and mocked Christianity, adhered by 90% of the population, causing a rift with the Catholic Church, which he’s labelled “the most hypocritical institution”.

In response, pastor Jun Divierte told Manila Times, “They can mock the God of the Bible every second if they want, and that’s their prerogative and their days are numbered,” he said. “But one thing I know, our God’s attribute does not change even for a moment.”
