10/13/2018 Indonesia (International Christian Concern) – Indonesia, a Muslim-majority country, is seeing an increase in Christian persecution as the radical Islam rise in the nation. As a result, the police have to increase their presence in Christian communities to protect them from violent attacks.
A member of Forgotten Missionaries International (FMI), Bruce Allen recently went to Indonesia. In doing so, he met with many church members to hear their stories. One pastor he spoke with said
“there’s been a continual police presence there for security sake since the coordinated bombings against three churches on a single Sunday, back in May.”
One pastor in Indonesia, claims that he sees the police presence as a good thing. Claiming it keeps the churches safer and allows the police officers to hear the Gospel while they are working.
The pastor went on sharing how their security is heightened after one radicalized family of six, split themselves up and attacked three churches in Surabaya last May.
Despite the increased violence towards Christians in Indonesia, the church is continuing to grow and flourish. One pastor said “ the persecution is actually serving to make us more faithful, more strong, and more devoted.”
