10/14/2018 North Korea (International Christian Concern) – In North Korean there are on average 250,000 North Koreans imprisoned in camps and an additional 50,000 imprisoned for their faith, yet nothing is being done to help these North Koreans imprisoned in camps.
Kim Jong-un, the North Korean leader, recently signed an agreement allowing for the dismantlement of a nuclear site. This is a huge step in the right direction for North Koreans, but aid organizations are urging them to do more and respond to the decades-long human right violations.
Open Doors USA, an NGO who advocates for the persecuted church, wants North Korea to allow the Red Cross and the United Nations Council of Inquiry to step in and inspect the camps. As many are claiming, these camps could be worse than Auschwitz.
Open Doors CEO, David Curry said “We must gain transparency into how these people are being treated.” He continued by saying “President Trump must make it clear that Kim Jong Un can only be invited back into the world’s good graces, and be lauded for political gestures if he commits to resolving decades of human rights violations at the hands of his regime.”
