The National Council of Churches in Korea has presented plaques of appreciation to World Council of Churches (WCC) general secretary Rev. Dr Olav Fykse Tveit and to WCC director of international affairs Peter Prove.
The award honoring Tveit states: “The World Council of Churches has prayed and worked in solidarity for the reconciliation and peace of the Korean Peninsula in the name of the Tozanso Process. In particular, for the last ten years of your leadership, you have played a key role in peace-building on the Korean Peninsula, making it one of the central mission tasks of the WCC. In recognition of your dedication and hard work toward peace-building on the Korean Peninsula, we offer this plaque to you.”
The award honoring Prove reads: “Serving as director of the Commission of the Churches on International Affairs, you have displayed outstanding leadership in helping the global church to pray and act for reconciliation and peace on the Korean Peninsula. To this end, you took part in coordinating a number of inter-Korean church meetings and strengthened solidarity with member churches as well as civil society. We are grateful for your dedication and offer you this plaque to mark our appreciation.”
