New church will be planted in Seattle/Tacoma region
A new church is being planted by immigrants from Ukraine and Russia in the Seattle/Tacoma region. The launch service will be sometime during the summer of 2010, it is said in the press release of the church.
Pastor Vasiliy Botsyan, a church planter and bishop in the Russian Pentecostal Union, is immigrating to the US on May 12th, to be the lead pastor of the new church, which will be called “City On A Hill.” He started churches in Asbest and Yekatirinburg Russia, and oversaw over 100 churches in the Ural region.
The new church will focus on reaching the Russian speaking population of Washington state, as well as the English. Reminder, only 2% of people in the Seattle/Tacoma area go to church on a Sunday morning. Washington is widely considered one of the most unchurched states in America. Seattle is widely recognized as the second leading city of homosexual activism in the United States, behind San Francisco. Tacoma, a city almost as big as Seattle, is also recognized as one of the most depressed cities in America, because of the high suicide rate and large number of cloudy days.
Some of the other lead pastors of “City On A Hill Church” include Russell Korets, a recent graduate of Oral Roberts University, Andrey Muzichuk, a popular Bible teacher and former Christian TV producer, and Mike Khochay, a youth evangelist.
Currently, a couple hundred people have expressed interest to join the church. A School of Leadership will be conducted in May and June to prepare Sunday School teachers, ushers, a media team, the worship team, an altar team, and other ministries. From the first launch service, people will be able to view the church service online, or podcast the messages on iTunes.
Over 600 people have joined the Facebook group “City On A Hill Church,” in less then one week after creating it.
