Ministry sets out to ignite passion across the US this year

E3 staff is launching a new campaign aimed at encouraging churches into short-term missions in the US, reports MNN.

Called Ignite 2008, it will be presented in 27 different cities across the United States. Ignite 2008 is a short-term missions conference that will make it easier for believers to get involved in evangelism and missions.

Shor- term mission trips provide participants with a hint of what it's like to work hands-on in the field. Through short-term projects, volunteers can develop a better understanding of what missionary work is all about.

E3 Partners will teach team members the practical ways to equip, evangelize, and establish bridges of unity and teamwork.

Already, they've partnered with more than 14,000 believers in 400 American churches and nearly 40,000 believers in 3,000 international congregations. Together, these believers have worked to introduce nearly 500,000 people to Christ and helped plant some 4,500 churches.

Another part of Ignite 2008's purpose is to encourage nationals as well as missionaries who often feel isolated in their work. This equips the team to minister to and encourage missionaries in the days ahead.

The most significant impact of short-term mission trips is a broadened horizon and an urgency to be an intentional participant of the Great Commission. Many times, young people who are active in short-term missions find a passion they didn't know existed and choose to serve in full-time ministry, exactly what Ignite 2008 organizers are hoping to cultivate.
