The court has not satisfied New Life church complaint

On March, 26th the Minsk city court has not satisfied the «New Life» church complaint, reports New Life church Information Center.

Church made the complaint to the decision of court of the Moscow area which has fined the community on 8 million 750 thousand roubles for environmental contamination.

As the lawyer of church Sergey Lukanin informed, a recognition by court of fault of believers involves necessity not only penalty payment, but also compensation of a damage to the nature at a rate of almost 263 million the roubles, defined by committee of natural resources and Minsk city executive committee preservations of the environment. Thus, the total sum of monetary sanctions against church makes about 100 thousand dollars.

Within a year the community can appeal against the decision of court of the Moscow area and definition of the Minsk city court to the chairman of the Supreme Court.

Sergey Lukanin said that “the judge was listening with understanding, nodding his head and showing that he supports our position but after going to the jury room to make his decision he came back with a completely different face and said that he justified actions of local authorities and offered us to appeal to the Supreme Court of the Republic of Belarus.” Sergey Lukanin also said that Christians had little hope that the court would change its decision but they still would fight for justice with the help of the law.
