Ministry gives thousands of children the gift of life for Easter

Russian Ministries is appealing for Christians around the world to help them offer the the gift of eternal life to thousands of children and young people in Russia and Ukraine this Easter, reports Peter Wooding, special to ASSIST News Service.

Ministry teams of young believers who are part of Russian Ministries’ Schools Without Walls program plan to distribute 10,000 boxes filled with sweets, toys, clothes and a copy of My First Bible, or other Christian literature for children.

“The Gift of Life campaign is a great project that national next generation ministers came up with, to put together a gift and then include a Bible or a piece of Christian literature and deliver it to needy children in orphanages or in poor families,” explains Russian Ministries’ Senior Vice President Sergey Rakhuba.

He added: “While they’re delivering the boxes they tell them about the life of Christ. They explain about His death and resurrection and tell them this great story, that by their faith they can have eternal life. So that’s the project that these young people launched themselves.

Sergey says ministry teams also plan to distribute 5,000 Gospels of Mark to students at higher educational institutions along with a specially designed insert that will explain the resurrection of Christ.

“Young people in Russia and Ukraine and especially those who we train through our Schools Without Walls program are getting very enthusiastic to use their gifts, to use their lives, to use their time, to use all limited resources available to them to continue expanding God’s kingdom in their communities and especially young believers.

“They like to reach out to their peers and this coming Easter they will be delivering these gifts to universities to technical schools and colleges. We really pray that many of the 5,000 people who will receive these gifts, will consider giving their lives to Christ.

Sergey is appealing for as many people as possible to sign up this Easter to sponsor these gifts of life: “I know that the Holy Spirit will be working through this project and I’d like you to consider to get behind, to pray, to support and help young believers in Russia and Ukraine to use this holiday to reach out to their peers, their communities and share the life of Christ with them.”

“We’d like people to do something more meaningful this Easter and to partner with national believers, young leaders, those who are so enthusiastic, but they need support. They need your partnership. They need you to send that $25 and help them to get that gift to a needy family, a needy child, to these students who are really open to hear about Christ. With that gift you can help these people in Russia and Ukraine learn the story of Jesus’ life, His death, His resurrection.”
