The Gospel finds a unique distribution point in Haiti
A $500,000 matching gift will double any gift given to OneHope for the country of Haiti by the end of the year. This means every dollar will provide a Book of Hope for not just three children, but six, reports MNN.
Haiti is the poorest nation in the western hemisphere, and its people are in bondage to spiritism and witchcraft. Seventy-five percent of the people practice voodoo and witchcraft.
Guerline is the daughter of a witchdoctor. Along with many other teenage girls, she worked in the brothel her mother owned, selling her body for as little as 35 cents. The concept of true love was completely foreign to her.
Then one day, a OneHope team from the local church came to her corner of Gonaives, Haiti. They proclaimed the Gospel at a neighborhood outreach event, and Guerline attended with 17 other young people associated with the brothel. The whole group accepted the Gospel that night and is now involved in the local church!
Haiti is a difficult place for missionaries to work, but the power of God's Word can break through the darkest forces of evil. OneHope has distributed 2 million copies of the Book of Hope there and plans to distribute 700,000 more in 2010.
OneHope plans to introduce The GodMan film and literature to Haiti as well, reaching the many children affected by the country's extremely low literacy rate.
