Canadian agency deprived of funding rejects anti-Semitism charge

The Canadian ecumenical justice coalition Kairos is denying an accusation of anti-Semitism levelled by a federal politician while continuing to protest its funding cut by the government, reports Ecumenical News International.

Toronto-based Kairos, which represents seven Canadian churches, learned on 16 December that although it had received backing for overseas work since 1973 the federal government would no longer fund it because of its role in sanction campaigns against Israel. That explanation is different than what the group was told on 30 November when the funding cut was announced.
