Ukrainians to hold prayers for safety on the roads
The Salvation Church is engaging in prayers and fasting during the month of February to draw attention to road safety in Ukraine. According to the Salvation Church Pastor for Administrative Issues, Yurii Babynets, this prayer is especially important as the number of automobile accidents in Ukraine are rising every year, as are the number of deaths from such accidents, reports RISU.
“We are praying and fasting throughout this month with great hope that there will be more safety on the roads. We want parent to return home alive to their children, and children to their parents,” stated Pastor Yurii.
According to statistics of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, over 62,000 accidents were were registered in Ukraine in 2007, causing 9,481 fatalities. Over 77,000 Ukrainians sustained serious injury. These statistics are 20% higher than those recorded for 2006.
