Some Sudanese church leaders and civil society groups say that the Khartoum government is aiding the Ugandan-based rebel group, the Lord's Resistance Army, to transfer its activities from southern Sudan to Darfur and this could worsen the situation there, reports Ecumenical News International. "This will further destabilise Chad and Darfur," said the Rev. Mark Cien, the deputy general secretary of the Sudan Council of Churches. "We as the Church state, 'This is unacceptable. We want to see peace in the region."
