Hindu radicals attack school for street children in India

Not content with just attacking churches and beating up pastors, a group of Hindu radicals have now sunk even lower and attacked a school for defenseless street children, reports James Varghese, special correspondent in India for ASSIST News Service.

The education centre, belonging to a minority Christian community, was attacked by this group at Hubli, Karnataka state, India, on Thursday, October, 22, 2009.

The name of the School is Adarsha Children’s Education Centre.

According to news carried on the website of the Global Council of Indian Christians (www.persecution.in), the incident took place on Thursday afternoon when a group of 25 members of the group called Sriram Sene (Army of Lord Ram) barged into the school building and damaged the school property and destroyed Bibles and other books.

The website said the radicals then went on to level found less charges against the school authorities who they claimed were engaging in “forceful conversion” of children to Christianity. The thugs then had the gall to register a case at the local police station.

This education centre is managed by Mr. Daniel Lingaraju. The school was started in July 2009 and is dedicated to train and teach poor street children.
