European churches call for efforts to overcome new divisions

The once-every-six-years assembly of the Conference of European Churches has ended with a call for churches to become inclusive communities offering Europe a vision of human values, unity and hope, reports Ecumenical News International.

"Our vision is a society where the dignity of the individual is the central focus, where there is no longer any exclusion, oppression or poverty," said the Rev. Margarethe Isberg from the Church of Sweden in a sermon at the closing worship of the assembly in Lyon, France.
