Hong Kong Catholic commission urges Beijing to release dissidentThe Hong Kong Catholic Justice and Peace Commission is urging the government in Beijing to release the Chinese dissident Liu Xiaobo, co-author of "Charter 08", which calls for political reforms in China, reports Ecumenical News International. The Roman Catholic diocesan commission co-organized a 25 June demonstration at the Chinese liaison office in Hong Kong, asking Beijing to immediately release Liu, who was arrested on 23 June in Beijing.
