Ukrainian MPs defeat the bill banning to examine priests

The Ukrainian Supreme Rada has rejected the bill suggesting to introduce changes in the Criminal Code and to ban questioning priests about information they got during confession, reports Interfax-Religion.

This bill also said that to examine advocates, notaries, doctors and psychologists and ask them about things they had learnt while performing their professional duties, a written permission from the person who gave them this information should be received, Ukrainian edition of the Kommersant daily has reported on Friday.

Only 187 MPs voted for the bill while at least 226 votes were necessary to adopt it.
