Hawaii's state Senate to institute annual Islam Day holiday
Hawaii's state Senate passed a bill to create "Islam Day." The bill - approved in both the Senate and House - is waiting to be signed by Hawaii's governor, Linda Lingle, reports Crescent Project press centre.
“In a government committed to separating religion from politics, "Islam Day" in Hawaii goes beyond 'tolerance' of religion to endorsement,” says Fouad Masri, President of the Crescent Project, in the press release.
“A young college student dealt with a similar problem a few years back. When the Muslim Student Association on her campus started "Islam Week," she petitioned university officials to let her collegiate ministry begin "Jesus Week" on their campus! It passed,” said Fouad Masri.
“Muslim leaders know that in order to keep Muslims in the 'fold' of Islam, they must control political powers. Much of what you see in the Middle East is a result of the "controlling" verses from the Qur'an (see 9:29 and 9:5). But the Bible promises that even when we aren't politically "in control," we are more than victorious in Jesus.”
