Zimbabwe's Catholic Commission for Justice and Peace says conditions in the southern African country show it is not yet ready for the holding of simultaneous presidential and parliamentary elections, which President Robert Mugabe has set for 29 March, reports Ecumenical News International. "The prevailing electoral environment is not conducive to free and fair elections in that the voter registration process and requirements are cumbersome, thereby limiting full participation of all citizens," the commission said in a statement released on 11 February. "In some areas voter registration was not adequately done."
