UNAIDS chief meets key civil society, faith-based campaigners

The global AIDS pandemic, responsible for an estimated 25 million deaths since the 1980s, should trigger changes in how society deals with human rights, homophobia and sex education, says the new UNAIDS chief Michel Sidibé, reports Ecumenical News International.

"You will never make a difference if you look at AIDS in isolation," Sidibé said during his first meeting with the Global Steering Committee of the World AIDS Campaign, which includes the Geneva-based Ecumenical Advocacy Alliance, a representative of faith groups.
