The president of the Christian Association of Nigeria, Archbishop John Onaiyekan, has questioned a federal government offer of amnesty to militants in the troubled Niger Delta region, reports Ecumenical News International. He said new ideas are needed to deal with the violent agitation for a more equitable allocation of resources to promote the development of oil-producing states. "You cannot deal with the Niger Delta if you cannot deal with the state of affairs in the area," noted Onaiyekan.
