Germany's senior Protestant bishop has hailed a decision by three regional Protestant churches in northern Germany to form a united church that will stretch from the Danish border to Poland, reports Ecumenical News International. The decision by the three northern churches is the latest in a series of similar moves in other parts of Germany. Still, it would be the first time that a merger had brought together regional churches from the former East and West Germany.
