Radio parternship in Nepal opens new doors for the Gospel
Doors are opening the Gospel in Nepal. According to the Far East Broadcasting Company, with the arrival of the new government and leadership, Christians are no longer persecuted as before, reports MNN.
Nepal is also a leader in Asia in the development of community radio, so there is government support. And with the advent of freedom, believers are laying the groundwork for building up the body of Christ.
Last June, the first of several planned Christian radio stations began broadcasting in Dadeldhura and Okhaldunga. They are part of a project called "Community Radio Initiative in Nepal," or CoRIN.
The project is a partnership between Far East Broadcasting Associates UK (FEBA-UK) and the Human Development & Community Services (HDCS), a Nepali Christian non-governmental organization.
The goal is to build FM stations in districts where HDCS has hospitals, which provide vital services to thousands of Nepali.
The stations broadcast to listeners who have little or no contact with Christians or the Gospel. It's a work in progress. Training is ongoing and will continue to be a big part of the CoRIN Project's focus.
The long term goal for CoRIN is to see a number of stations around the country become self-supporting within the next four to five years and remain a long-term presence in their communities. Ongoing funding will be required for this.
