Never forget dictatorship, say Brazilian human rights' defenders

The initiators of an exhibition about the military dictatorship that ruled Brazil from 1964 to 1985 say they hope it will create awareness of past human rights violations and prevent such abuses happening again, reports Ecumenical News International.

"People with no memory, and without their feet in the present, cannot look to the future," said Ana Cristina Kirchheim of Brazil's Lutheran Foundation of Diaconia, one of three organizations supporting the exhibition that was displayed at the World Social Forum, which took place in Belem, northeast Brazil at the end of January.
