Training seminar for ministers held in Moscow, Russia
Part of the vision of the Good News Churches in Moscow and Kiev is to plant and support churches throughout the former Soviet Union. The Good News Seminary was created to train people to serve in ministry, some of whom will undoubtedly start ministries of their own, reports Rick Renner Ministries. The purpose of the Good News Association of Pastors and Churches is to support churches and ministries through our conferences, teaching materials, and resources for pastors.
Last weekend, the Moscow Good News Church hosted visiting pastor Fyodor Akimenko, who taught a two-day seminar entitled, "How To Start a Ministry." This seminar was sponsored by the Good News Seminary and was open to past and future students of our seminary program. Seventy- three students attended this 11-hour seminar, including representatives from each graduating class.
This informative seminar dealt with the spiritual aspects of beginning a ministry, including how to know God's call on your life; stepping into the fullness of God's vision; and maintaining momentum as you progress forward. Fyodor also addressed the practical side of starting a new ministry, such as how to raise funds; how to register legally; how to build a team; and the resources needed for startup.
Fyodor Akimenko received his Bible training at the Bible school in Jelgeva, Latvia, where Rick Renner first taught in 1991 when he moved to the former Soviet Union. After completing Bible school, Fyodor relocated to Petrozavodsk in northeastern Russia and planted a church there. More than 400 people attend his church, and Fyodor serves as bishop over 50 churches in the Pentecostal Association.
As Fyodor shared his firsthand knowledge born of experience, the seminary students and graduates learned valuable information about the challenges faced by new ministries and how to overcome those challenges. Those who attended the seminar will soon step out in obedience to the call God has on their own lives. When they do, they'll be able to put this knowledge into practice in order to successfully launch their own ministries and reach new people for Christ.
