Crusade Draws Unexpected Numbers of People to Christ
More than 13,000 people attended a three-day Christmas celebration held in a stadium in Vietnam in December. Of those, 2,300 responded to an invitation to accept Christ, reports MNN.
Far East Broadcasting Company was there to do counseling and follow-up with those who responded.
The event was held December 14, 15, and 16 2007. Evangelicals and house churches sponsored the event as an opportunity for anyone and everyone to enjoy music, festivities and to hear the message of the true meaning of Christmas. Christians, the friends of Christians, students, groups from industrial plants, and the rest of the general public were in attendance.
The government required a license for openly sharing the Gospel. FEBC reports that while it may surprise some that it was allowed, the government is eager to show the world that they offer freedom of religion. The secular press, who reported on the event, were surprised that the church was able to hold such a successful event.
Praise Jesus Christ, He's the King, a hymn, opened the event each night. Other solos were performed, including many by FEBC-Vietnam's director, Pastor Nguyen.
Now, it is the local churches challenge to help new converts find a home church. The response was more than they were expecting. Though they were prepared, they had no idea God would move so many people.
