MGNC's X-Factor Youth Ministry held a Winter Youth Camp in the Ural Mountains, lasting from December 28 to January 6. Coming from three different churches, 44 young people attended this camp to participate in outdoor activities, fellowship with likeminded believers, and grow closer to God, reports Rick Renner Ministries.
At the forefront of this camp's focus was helping the young people learn how to grow in Jesus. Each day began and ended with devotions, where the teens read and prayed Psalm 91 in the mornings and Ephesians 3:16-21 in the evenings. Two Bible studies were also held each day. In addition to spending time in prayer and the Word, these young people experienced a number of fun winter activities, including snowboarding, downhill skiing, and sledding. They also played music together, sang songs, read, and enjoyed a time of relaxation after their stressful December mid-term school exams.
On New Year's Eve, which is the most celebrated holiday in Russian culture, the teens gathered for an evening of worship. After watching the Russian President's annual New Year's address on television, they began to sing and praise the Lord. At midnight, these young men and women were all deep in worship, fervently giving glory to their Father God. While many others in Russia welcomed in the New Year with toasts and vodka, these teens began the year by putting Jesus first in their lives.
Another highlight of the camp was testimony night, where everyone shared what God had done in their lives in 2008. The teens were very encouraged as they heard of God's power in the lives of their friends and reflected on what God had done for them during the course of the year.
Youth Pastor Philip Renner remarked, "It was great to sense the unity between the kids from different churches. We taught on themes like thankfulness and loving people, and I saw our youth demonstrating everything we taught. I am looking forward to hearing what God does in their lives in the year to come."
