A pastoral studies program - educating ministers in Russia
The Good News Seminary was created to teach the Word of God and build up strong spiritual leaders. At the seminary, the teachers endeavor to impart a thorough understanding of the Bible and then teach the students how to apply that knowledge in every facet of their lives, reports Rick Renner Ministries. As Paul wrote in Second Timothy 3:16,17: "All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works." Many graduates are now serving in churches throughout Russia, ministering to those in need and spreading the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
After completing the courses offered at Good News Seminary School, some graduates expressed a desire to continue studying the Word and learn more about the practical aspects of ministry. To this end, the ministry created a Masters Pastoral Studies program, which trains believers who sense God's call on their lives to full-time ministry.
Students in the Pastoral Studies program are not only increasing their knowledge of the Word, but they are also learning the finer points of ministry. This comprehensive program teaches a variety of essential ministerial skills, such as courses on how to become better speakers and how to fulfill ministerial duties. In addition, this curriculum also provides insight into complex theological studies, including homiletics, hermeneutics, and eschatology. Currently, 40 students are enrolled in this Masters program.
As part of their Masters curriculum, Pastoral Studies students can also participate in monthly preaching labs, preparing and delivering a short sermon on a topic of their choice. Their messages are then reviewed by a member of the seminary staff and their peers. This month, 14 students delivered messages, and the faculty member was impressed with the depth of their teaching and their speaking abilities. Once these students have sufficiently demonstrated their knowledge, they are sent out to minister in churches in and around Moscow. A conference is also planned for this spring, which will give the students further opportunity to utilize and grow in their gifts.
