New York art exhibition weaves the story of the Prodigal Son

An exhibit at the only scholarly museum of biblical art in the United States is focusing on one of the most cherished stories in the New Testament, that of the Prodigal Son, reports Ecumenical News International. "The Art of Forgiveness: Images of the Prodigal Son" at the Museum of Biblical Art in New York City centres on a range of art media - collage, painting, prints, stained glass, tapestry - that take as their inspiration the story found in the Gospel according to St Luke. "This walk through history shows us how artists in different periods and countries reinterpreted the story to fit their religious, socio-historical, and personal realities," said Ena Heller, the museum's executive director.
