Moscow Good News Church held International Day 2008
This year's International Day was another spectacular event at the Moscow Good News Church. Since the early years of MGNC, the church has celebrated the great diversity of people who attend by hosting the annual International Day Celebration -- or, as it is called in Russian, the "Celebration of Nations," reports Rick Renner Ministries.
At this year's celebration, songs were performed about the nations all celebrating the greatness of God. It was a colorful event as well. All the choir members and musicians were in their respective national costumes, and special decorated banners were used behind the music ministers, representing the many cultures and people groups represented in the Body of Christ.
The songs were also sung in several languages. Philip Renner sang one of them in English; afterward, the song transitioned into Russian. Then a group from the Vietnamese Good Church came on stage, dressed in their national costumes, to sing a song in their native language. This song was arranged to transition into Russian as well so that everyone could sing together.
The MGNC musicians even created a special arrangement of the old hymn, "On a Hill Far Away" for the string section to play during the offering.
Woven throughout the music performances were special commentaries by different members of the pastoral team, presenting the plan of salvation "from Abraham to Jesus". Pastors Rick and Denise approached the platform several times to exhort the congregation from the Word. Denise Renner sang a beautiful solo in Russian, and the congregation joined in.
During the program, there was also a special video presentation created by Paul Renner that featured people from MGNC of many diverse nationalities. All them told where they were from and gave God the glory in their native tongues.
The children are always a highlight of any program at the church. Near the end of the International Day program, the children came onto the platform to sing in several languages, including Spanish, English, and Russian. At the end of their performance, they all released their balloons into the air.
At the end of the entire program, Pastor Rick gave a stirring altar call, and many people came forward to receive the Lord for the first time. This same program was repeated for the second service, and many more first-time converts came forward during this service as well.
