Kyrgyzstan law will 'increase' Central Asia religious restrictions

American and European human rights groups have challenged lawmakers in Kyrgyzstan for passing a law designed to restrict non-Muslim religions from establishing themselves in the country, which was once part of the Soviet Union, reports Ecumenical News International. The law is seen as increasing religious restrictions throughout Central Asia, and includes bans on children Å’s involvement in religious organizations, "aggressive action aimed at proselytising", the distribution of religious literature, print and audio-video religious materials, and the compulsory re-registration of all religious organizations.
