1st English-language service held in Moscow Good News church
On Sunday, November 2, the Moscow Good News Church hosted its very first English-language service, and more than 55 people came together for praise and worship, prayer, and Bible teaching in English, reports Rick Renner Ministries. Coming from diverse cultures and backgrounds, these believers all joined together in one accord to lift up the name of Jesus and study the Word of God.
Several months ago, during a special English-language worship night, God spoke to Pastor Rick Renner and placed a vision in his heart to reach the English-speaking community of Moscow. Now as Rick and his team begin this weekly ministry, that vision is being fulfilled. For the first service, pastor and International Ministry director Terry Young ministered from Acts 1:8. Terry taught on God's call to some believers to be witnesses for Him in areas far from their homes, stressing how the mission field then becomes the new home of these "sent ones."
Effective ministry is more than just a Sunday-only occurrence, and the Good News Church is committed to helping people grow and mature in Christ, as well as find their place in the fellowship of believers. Bob and Katherine Dickerson lead an English-language home group, giving English-speaking believers a place to study the Bible and spend time together during the week. Those who are fluent in English are also encouraged to participate in other areas of the Moscow Good News Church where English is spoken, such as the Good News Seminary program.
The new English-language church is in the process of training up a choir and children's ministry, with the development of many more areas of ministry planned as the church grows. As Terry Young explains, "Our desire and goal is to serve the English-speaking community of Moscow with excellence. We believe that the Word of God is true and that God's desire is for believers to experience the fullness of Christ in every sphere of life. We're excited about this new ministry, and we're thankful that God has given us the opportunity to provide a spiritual home for those who are away from their homes, families, and culture."
