No Q and A at religious leaders' meeting with Iranian president

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and 300 religious and political leaders broke bread in New York City to promote the importance of religion in solving global problems, with the Iranian leader declaring that "all divine prophets have spoken of one truth", reports Ecumenical News International.

The gathering had been the focus of numerous statements of condemnation and a protest outside the Manhattan hotel where the event was held, with protestors holding signs reading, "No Feast for the Beast".

Religious leaders who spoke at the banquet made clear that they felt both the need to engage with the Iranian president and to speak out against Ahmadinejad's statements on the Holocaust and human rights problems within Iran.
