Missionaries excited to continue Great Commission project

A Greater Europe Mission team in Ireland is riding high on the energy created at the four-day Urban Soul event in Dublin, Ireland, reports MNN.

Urban Soul encouraged young people to live out the Great Commission. Urban Soul is an active citizenship program for youth to help them put into action what it means to love God and others.

The underlying values that motivate and guide Urban Soul are those taught and demonstrated by Jesus. His life and message show that loving God is just the beginning and that we are also called to actively love our neighbors.

160 young people from around the world spent four days in July doing community service projects like area clean-ups, painting over graffiti, running community events, etc. But ministry leaders hope it won't stop there.

Ministry can be very challenging in Ireland. Evangelical Christians make up less than 2 percent of the Irish population.

According to GEM, half of the population is under 28 years old. Although the younger generation generally turns away from the institutional church, it is seeking spiritual meaning, and the evangelical church has grown more in the past 10 to 20 years than it has in the past 130 years.
