Roman Catholics in Ukraine ask prayers for media

The head of the Committee on Matters of Mass Media of the Conference of Bishops of the Roman Catholic Church in Ukraine, Bishop Vitalii Skomarovskyi, published an address asking to pray for the mass media from 24 to 31 August. RISU’s Ukrainian-language site posted the news on 22 August 2008, reports RISU.

The bishop explained the choice of the dates for joint prayer in the following way: “This is the last week of August, when we complete our vacations to return soon to study, work and various activities… I encourage you to pray for the Catholic mass media… We hope that the Catholic mass media always proclaim and help people to give the answer proclaimed by St. Peter: �?You [Jesus Christ] are the son of the Living God.’ It is the answer of the whole Church,” stressed the bishop.

He also stressed that workers of the mass media need special prayer today, for it is they who form public opinion and influence people’s consciences.
