South Korean Christian author’s Books meet Mexican Readers
The Guadalajara International Book Fair was held for nine days in the capital and largest city of the Mexican state of Jalisco from Nov. 29 to Dec 7, 2014, reports Hyeeun Kim , Special to ASSIST News Service.
Better known as the FIL (from its Spanish name: Feria Internacional del Libro de Guadalajara), the Guadalajara International Book Fair is one the most important annual events of its kind in the Spanish-speaking world.
This year, the fair of this year saw the participation of 1,932 publishers from 43 countries and the year's Guest of Honor was Argentina. On December 7, the President of Uruguay Jose Mujica visited the book fair.
Spanish Christian readers at the Mexican book fair, were able to enjoy best-selling Korean contemporary Christian books which have been translated from Korean into Spanish.
In the Korean Pavilion, Spanish versions of Dr. Jaerock Lee's books were displayed and included Mi Vida, Mi Fe 1 (My Life, My Faith 1), Cielo 1, 2 (Heaven Volume 1, 2), Infierno (Hell), and Despierta Israel! (Awaken, Israel).
Dr. Lee's autobiography, Mi Vida, Mi Fe (My Life, My Faith 1), was published initially in Korean in 2006, and has since been published into 35 languages including English, Spanish and Portuguese.

Asian languages at the book fair included Indonesian, Japanese, Sinhalese, Tagalog and Vietnamese; and European languages, included Albanian, Armenian, Bulgarian, Croatian, Czech, Danish, Dutch, Estonian, Finnish, French, Georgian, German, Greek, Hungarian, Italian, Lithuanian, Macedonian, Norwegian, Polish, Romanian, Russian, Serbian, Slovak, Swedish, Turkish and Ukrainian.
In the book of Cielo 2 (Heaven 2), Lee writes about the prophets in the first-ranked group in heaven : Elijah who was lifted up without seeing death, Enoch who walked with God for 300 years, Abraham who was called a friend of God, and Moses, leader of the Exodus.
The Korean version of Infierno (Hell) has been ranked as a bestseller and the Indonesian translation of Hell has been listed as a bestseller in Indonesia.

The UK will be guest of honor at the Feria Internacional del Libro (FIL) Guadalajara 2015, which will take place from November 28 until December 6, 2015. It will follow on from Mexico as Market Focus at the 2015 London Book Fair and come as part of UK/Mexico 2015, a major season of artistic exchange between the two countries designed to strengthen the bilateral relationship.
The 2010 census by the National Institute of Statistics and Geography of Mexico gave Roman Catholicism as the main religion, with 83% of the population, while 10% (10,924,103) belong to other Christian denominations, including Evangelicals (5%); Pentecostals (1.6%); other Protestant or Reformed (0.7%).
