Association of Christian churches and organizations: Russian NTV channel apology
The Association of Christian churches and organizations of spiritual enlightenment requested that the leadership of the Russian NTV channel apologizes to the evangelical Christians, reports The Christian Telegraph.
The Association is talking about the video plots, which are “openly disparaging, having a defamation of character that forms persistent, negative, hostile attitude of the viewer towards the Christian churches and evangelicals, and offends religious sentiments of thousands of believers.”
“When you are presenting a false information, focusing on a few examples of emotional imbalance of charismatic churches, you discredit and humiliate tens of thousands of Russian religious organizations that are active in social work, often in close contact with the administration of their cities and regions,” noted the appeal.
“In the context of the state's population policy, in the context of the President's address to the Federal Assembly, where he addressed the issue of support for organizations involved in social activities, in the context of a policy aimed at maintaining inter-religious peace, we, on behalf of hundreds of thousands Russian evangelicals have to admit, that the action undertaken by your TV channel, aimed at destabilizing the inner life of our country and undermining its international authority. If there is no public apology before the Russian evangelicals we will send to the Presidential Administration the request of defamation on the basis of the Basic Law,” says the document.
