World's Largest Nativity video goes viral on YouTube
According to press release of Radiant, a viral YouTube video advocating Christ over commercialism during the holiday season has been viewed more than 1.2 million times and is still growing.
“We wanted to show the world that we truly believe in Jesus Christ and that he needs to be a part of Christmas,” said associate producer Derral Eves. “We were completely amazed at how God had his hand in this production. People came onboard at extremely short notice. Every person involved was vital to the production and made huge sacrifices.”
The interfaith production, created by numerous YouTube celebrities and music stars and sponsored by Radiant, documents the record-breaking presentation of the world’s largest nativity as part of the #ShareTheGift campaign.
“This was an interfaith event — despite our differences in religion, we’re all celebrating the birth of Christ,” said Eves. “We’re all trying to put Christ back in Christmas.”
Headlined by The Piano Guys, David Archuleta, and Peter Hollens, the interfaith video focuses on the birth of the Christ Child as the “first Christmas gift.” To create the video, various YouTubers such as Devon Supertramp, Stuart Edge, Alex Boye and Shay Carl of the Shaytards, in addition to more than 1039 volunteers — some from as far away as Ireland, Brazil and the Dominican Republic — donated their time to be part of the effort.
“I wanted to do something to show my kids that Christ needs to be the center of Christmas,” said Shay Carl, a YouTuber who starred as a wiseman in the video. “In years to come, I will remember this as one of my favorite Christmas experiences — the way it might have felt to kneel at the feet of our Lord and Savior."
