Maria das Dores Hipolito Pires, known as Doris Hipolito, is married and has 2 children. She is a pedagogist and Professional Counselor with a solid position against abortion under any circumstance, and she has worked for the defense of life for 23 years.
In the year of 1991, when she was a teacher of History and Geography at Castro Alves School, she was summoned by the Headmaster of the school to do something for the students that were having abortions and suffering from its consequences. As a devout Catholic, Doris sought the Pro-Life Group in Rio de Janeiro to help her with this task. They gave her a video with the silent scream and other Pro-Life literature, and oriented her to give some talks, as she was a teacher. This was the beginning of her way to stop abortion.
Doris started giving talks in her school, then in other schools, and that is when she started thinking about founding a Pro-Life group in her diocese. She always says she was not successful in the talks she organized in her own parish, as people were not interested in the subject – Abortion.
One day, after praying Our Lady's rosary, she felt a strong calling in her heart to pray the rosary for the defense of life, in the square, on the 13th of every month of the year.
