Friendship soccer match unites Cambodia and Korea

On December 28, 2007 tens of thousands of Cambodians flocked to Phnom Penh Olympic Stadium to watch exhibition soccer games between Korea and Cambodia, reports MNN.

Between matches, spectators enjoyed traditional Cambodian and Korean dance numbers and heard an inspiring message from Dr. Billy Kim, President of Far East Broadcasting Company-Korea -- a media ministry that broadcasts Christ to unreached people around the world.

In addition to strengthening the friendship between Cambodia and Korea, Dr. Kim's purpose was to ask God's blessings on the Cambodian nation. As the local Cambodian church partners with Korean Christians, Dr. Kim hopes that a powerful spiritual alliance will result, strengthening Cambodian society on all levels.

Organizations and individuals involved in the rally were Korean Christian ministries and missionaries, Kyung An Cable Company and other Korean businesses, local NGOs, the Cambodian government, and many individuals who prayed for this event.

During the rally, 10,000 bags of iodized salt were distributed to spectators to supplement the Cambodian diet, deficient in iodine. It was also announced that two buses would be donated to the National Cambodian Soccer Team by Central Baptist Church of Suwon, Korea, the church where Dr. Kim is Senior Pastor Emeritus. Other items distributed included motorcycles, television sets, cell phones, and radios.
