Greek Catholics join walk for peace held in Lviv, Ukraine

With the blessings of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Archbishop Ihor (Vosniak), a peace procession was held on 1 January 2008 in Lviv under the banner “Peace throughout the World”, reports Risu. The aim of the walk was to support peace in the world and promote prayer for those countries which today find themselves subject to war and terrorism. RISU’s Ukrainian-language web page posted the story.

The Society of the Holy Protectress organized the Lviv event which has its origins in similar processions first held in Rome in 1968. The Society brings together tens of thousands of lay persons who work to promote peace throughout the world.
