Church: If laws are injurious for the society, they must be changed

Press-service of New Life church found out about the letter signed by the head of the Department on the affairs of religions and nationalities of Brest Oblast Executive Committee V.N.Marchenko. On May, 30th, it was sent to different ministries and departments of Belarus, reports New Life church press-center.

In his letter head of the Department urges «to increase attention while contacting the representatives of religious organizations that conduct missionary activity under the lee of charitable activity». Charitable concert in Children Oncology Center in Borovliani, Minsk region, that was hosted by the children of New Life church served as a reason for this letter. During the concert family of Aleshkevich also testified how God healed their daughter Anna from the 4th stage cancer.

On June, 24, organizing committee for the creation of Human Rights Center «Freedom of Conscience» sent the statement to the President of Republic of Belarus Alexandr Lukashenko. Legal validity of the above-mentioned letter is reviewed in this statement.

The statement of the Human Rights Center says: «It is impossible to regard the mentioned event either as «missionary activity» or «religious event» since there were neither religious sacraments nor prayers done during the concert». The statement also points out that «most of the practicing medics can mention the cases of miraculous healings when their competence was powerless yet the death drew back for inconceivable reason».

«If there are the laws that do damage to the society, then these laws must be changed», - the statement summarizes.

Copies of the statement were sent to the heads of Christian confessions and denominations.
