Mayogo New Testament - near completion in the Congo
Wycliffe Associates, a global organization that involves people in the acceleration of Bible translation around the world, is working proactively to help national Bible translators in remote and dangerous locations by providing them with state-of-the-art equipment that allows real-time collaboration with translation consultants.
Translators who live and work in areas without reliable electricity or even Internet access are able to communicate via satellite connection with translation consultants hundreds or even thousands of miles away.
Democratic Republic of the Congo: Pray earnestly that the Mayogo New Testament will be published in 2014, without further setback and delay. Language development and translation began among the Mayogo people with the first resident SIL couple in 1986. Since then, several Congolese have been trained in literacy, translation, computing and administrative matters. Scripture portions have been produced. But there have been trials too, including the sudden death of the head translator in February 2012. Final technical checks are currently in progress. numbering approximately 100,000
