Allan Carlson will be a visiting professor at Hillsdale College
World Congress of Families International Secretary Allan C. Carlson will be a visiting Professor of Political Science and History at Hillsdale College (Hillsdale, Michigan) beginning with the Autumn, 2008 term, reports World Congress of Families.
Carlson’s inaugural course at Hillsdale will be a seminar titled, “Intellectual History of the Natural Family in Western History.”
Hillsdale is an independent, coeducational liberal arts college. Founded in 1844, it was one of the first colleges in the country to admit African-Americans and women. In 2008, U.S. News & World Report ranked Hillsdale among the best American Liberal Arts colleges.
Carlson holds a Ph.D. in Modern European History and is the author of 10 books and hundreds of articles dealing primarily with the family and population issues. Carlson commented, “I am delighted by this new affiliation with a college known for its commitment to autonomy, liberty and the heritage of Western Civilization.”
Dr. Carlson, who is also the president of the Howard Center for Family, Religion & Society, added: “A half-teaching load will allow me to continue supervising the work of both the World Congress of Families and The Howard Center. Since both the Center and my home will remain in Rockford, I will be commuting on a regular basis. Still, I am delighted by the opportunity to return to the classroom.”
